Sugar Cookies

  • 1 cup+2TBSP butter, softened
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 
  • Pinch salt
  • 3 and 34  cups all-purpose flour 
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder


Step 1

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 2

Beat in eggs and vanilla extract  

Step 3

 Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Once combined, cover and chill the dough for at least 1 hour. 

Step 4

After chilling, remove dough and roll out on a floured surface around half an inch thick. Cut into shapes using any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on a baking sheet. 

Step 5

Bake 8-10 minutes in an oven preheated to 400 degrees F. Allow to cool 5 minutes and then remove to wire racks to cool completely. 

You can stay low-key and frost cookies using store-bought vanilla buttercream or use royal icing for expert decorating.
